There was some concern that having the word ‘shark’ in our name would work against us. In the end we decided that good name could only be cultivated and built over time. Papershark Media have a code of ethics because we are believe an honest approach is better for long term business. The area web marketing has some deeply unsavoury people and strategies that we believe only damage a company's reputation over the long term. We appreciate that advertising often requires a tenacious attitude and a dispassionate view of human nature but we don't believe that should ever extend as far as cynicism and lies. We believe in giving our partners a realistic appraisal of what can be achieved and the timescale that it is possible. We won't misrepresent what we can achieve for you, or what you can achieve for your customers.
We don’t believe that there is a place in the world for a company that operates in bad faith (You or Us). The internet is such a powerful tool for communication for your organisation, but it is also powerful tool for peer review and evaluation. Everyone who uses the internet wants it free of Spammers and Scammers, and Google know that their continued success means not directing their customers into the jaws of cheats and liars. We are committed to only engage in ‘White Hat’ SEO and Marketing activities.
We regard the internet with exactly the same level of seriousness as the any print activities, and we will work within the British Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) and the Committee of Advertising Practice (CAP). Standards that we carry over to the fast world of Internet Advertising. We don’t want to simply hype guidelines that many advertisers already work to, but we do want to underline our commitment to the spirit of these guidelines in all our work and business relationships. We created them as much for our Client's assurance as our own sense of quality and integrity that ad to the enjoyment of our careers. We will work to our best ability to build, retain and increase the ranking and position of our client’s site. In doing so we will use all appropriate technologies, procedures and methodologies.
We will never intentionally do harm to a client. This involves any behaviour or use of technology that is known to damage the site itself or the sites standing with a search engine company over a medium or long term. Or use any technologies or practices that cause the removal of the site from their index and directories.
We will never intentionally violate any rules of search engine companies or their directories. When rules and guidelines change we will promptly alter our behaviour to comply with these changes. Where rules are unclear we will seek clarification before use of any potentially unsafe procedures or technologies.
We will not intentionally mislead, harm, or offend a consumer. We work under the premise that all users of search engines do not wish to be mislead by information presented by search engines. Neither do they wish to be harmed of offended by a site they are visiting.
We will not intentionally break the law. This involves the deliberate and continued violation of copyright, trademark, service-mark, or laws related to spamming or other abuses of databases and lists.
No conflict of interest will be entered into without prior notice to all parties involved. This includes the practice of choosing to emphasize a client over another in similar products or services and concurrently similar keywords and strategies. All clients will receive equal best effort.
All of our staff and contracted third parties will protect the clients privileged information. This includes any formal and informal information that may cause harm and any information that is not generally known of the client.
We will not knowingly falsely represent a client, or their service or product. This includes the practice of ‘Bait and Switch’ where one product or service is advertised to lure a customer into a ‘substitute’ product or service. “Shilling” whereby we will adopt the persona of a seemingly enthusiastic customer or any other false independent persona.
We will never represent other peoples work as our own. Competition is the fuel of web advertising, and we always look at what the completion is doing and ask ourselves how we can improve on it but we won’t steal their work and pass it off as our own. Work we create is authored by us.
We will not set unreasonable client expectations, or misrepresent the factors of quality or quantity. Neither will we misrepresent the abilities, education, experience or affiliation of a client’s strategy handler. This includes time frames for results, and known conditions of search engines and competition.
We will not accept more clients that can be reasonably accepted for competing position for same keywords and key-phrases. We will not act with any client in a manner that can be regarded as action against other clients within the same market sector and location. In the event that conflict may arise we will refuse a new contract in preference of the original contract.
